Musée de l’Art Brut
As the heir of the Collection begun in 1945, and having become an international reference in its realm, the Collection de l’Art Brut is an asset to the standing of the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud, in Switzerland and abroad.
As the world's first and finest Art Brut collection, the museum has forged strong links with related institutions devoted to this outsider form of art, creating a network to encourage exchange, similar initiatives and collaboration. Since its creation, the Collection de l'Art Brut has worked intensely on behalf of the recognition of Art Brut, with initiatives and collaborative projects such as:
• greatly enlarging the Collection,
• mounting over 100 outstanding temporary or thematic exhibitions,
• publishing over sixty catalogues or monographs, and releasing documentary films,
• collaborating on and lending out works, at both national and international levels.
Today, the museum boasts over 70,000 works by 1000 authors.
The four floors of the Château de Beaulieu are designed to keep creations by the authors in its collections on permanent display: these presently come to 700.
