Fondation Pierre Gianadda
Following the death of his brother Pierre in the summer of 1976, Léonard Gianadda decided to build a foundation dedicated to art on the remains of a Gallo-Roman temple. Since then, the Martigny museum has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world each year. The Pierre Gianadda Foundation permanently presents major temporary exhibitions. Nearly 10 million visitors have already admired works from private collections and major museums around the world, notably at the exhibitions Klee, Goya, Rodin, Giacometti, Schiele, Lautrec, Moore, Modigliani, Claudel, Chagall, Braque, Degas, de Staël, Manet, Dufy, Miró, Gauguin, Bonnard, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Picasso, Van Dongen, Morisot, Signac, Anker, Balthus, Erni, Renoir, Matisse, Zao Wou-Ki, etc. The aims of the Pierre Gianadda Foundation are simple. They combine the memory of a brother who passed away too soon with the desire to promote the history of the city and to bring temporary cultural events, both musical and pictorial.
