Gangwon Triennales
The Gangwon Triennale was established in 2013 to successfully host the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics as a cultural Olympics. Starting with the 1st PyeongChang Biennale in 2013, it has hosted four biennales up to 2018, discussing the current state of visual arts around the world and introducing the beauty of Gangwon-do to the world, contributing to the sublimation of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics into a cultural Olympism. Following this, in 2019, it changed its foundation from a biennial biennale to a three-year cycle regional triennale, and is hosting the Gangwon Artist Triennale, Gangwon Kids Triennale, and Gangwon International Triennale. The Gangwon Triennale aims to transform the entire Gangwon-do into an art park and tourism destination, and strives to realize the identity and value of Gangwon-do through art through resident participation and regeneration of idle spaces, and to leave it as a regional heritage.
