Culture Index exists to catalog cultural institutions online, and highlight the best practices that inspire us.
Launching with a focus on museums and building from there, we are a resource for both research and discovery. Browse information about online communications, and discover ideas with examples of what’s possible for cultural institutions in the digital space.
As a community project facilitated by Base, we invite you to use and contribute to this growing resource.
Haus der Elektronischen Künste
The HEK (House of Electronic Arts) in Basel is dedicated to digital culture and the new art forms of the information age. Since 2011, creative and critical discourses about the aesthetic, socio-political and economic effects of media technologies have taken place here. The HEK shows contemporary art that researches and designs new technologies; it promotes an aesthetic practice that uses information technologies as a medium, makes them clear and actively intervenes in their processes. In this way, the HEK addresses the pressing questions about the culture of the 21st century and actively contributes to communicating them.
