Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art is part of the National Gallery, together with the Ateneum Art Museum and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. The National Gallery is Finland's largest art museum organization, whose operations are governed by the Act on the National Gallery.
Kiasma organizes exhibitions, performances and events. Kiasma's public outreach brings contemporary art within everyone's reach. Services range from baby coloring games to adult art workshops, guided tours and events. A diverse school program brings contemporary art into schoolwork.
The museum houses the Kiasma Library, which specializes in contemporary art, and the Kiasma Theatre, a stage for live contemporary art. Kiasma has its own free and open-to-all friends' club, the Kiasma Club, which gives you benefits and discounts on Kiasma's services.
Kiasma not only exhibits contemporary art, but also collects and stores it. The works acquired by Kiasma are part of the collections of the National Gallery and are therefore an important part of Finnish cultural heritage. Currently, the National Gallery's collection of contemporary art includes almost 9,000 works of contemporary art.
