Zacheta
Zachęta — National Gallery of Art is one of the leading cultural institutions in Europe . Its mission is to promote contemporary art in all its current manifestations as a vital element of cultural and social life.
The gallery organizes temporary exhibitions , showcasing the most interesting phenomena in 21st- and 20th-century art. Its over 100-year-old interiors have hosted works by outstanding Polish and international artists, including Marlene Dumas , Luc Tuymans, Jan Lebenstein , Zbigniew Libera , Tadeusz Kantor , Katarzyna Kozyra , Koji Kamoji, Susan Mogul, Yayoi Kusama, Wilhelm Sasnal , and Wolfgang Tillmans. Zachęta also produces widely discussed, theatrical exhibitions, such as "From the Ashes , " "Pale Sun Rises from Behind the Mountains," and "Anxiety Comes at Dusk ." The gallery showcases the work of young artists . Their works can be viewed in locations such as the Zachęta Project Room , a laboratory space serving as a stage for artistic experimentation. The gallery conducts educational activities aimed at children, young people, and adults. It also organizes a series of accessible events , attentive to the diverse needs of its audiences. It publishes books on contemporary art and gathers information on contemporary Polish artistic life.
